Our smallest kit weighs around 3lbs, while our largest kit weighs more than 12lbs. This doesn’t mean you have to carry all that weight. Even our largest kit allows you to build a small 16oz. four panel stove. But you can also build a massive potbelly stove with 5ft chimney. Ultimately, the choice is yours when it comes to the size of your stove and how much you carry.
StealthFyre is several types of survival stove in one kit. This eliminates the need to own several different stoves. With StealthFyre, you’ll be able to build any style stove you need. And you can expand your stove system at will by adding more panels to your collection.
StealthFyre is also a smokeless fire that leaves no trace when used as a Dakota Fire Hole. What’s more, StealthFyre allows you to conceal your flame by keeping it below ground where it can’t be seen. This is perfect in instances where you need fire but prefer to go unnoticed.
You can also easily share the weight when group camping. Or if your friends have one, deploy them together for greater experiences. Its compact size means you can carry a few panels in your pocket for day hikes. You can store our largest stoves nearly anywhere. There’s really not many reasons you wouldn’t need a StealthFyre survival stove.
StealthFyre is indeed a special stove. We originally designed the stove based off of the Dakota Fire Hole style of building a fire. And then we added modularity to it by making interlocking panels that could connect on all six axes. That alone made it special.
But because of the nature of the Dakota Fire Hole, StealthFyre was able to inherit extremely special attributes like the ability to remain smokeless when burning wood. It can also keep your fire hidden below ground by deploying it in a pit dug into the top soil.
If you deployed your StealthFyre stove in this manner, you’ll also comply with the Leave No Trace principle. This is because your fire and ashes stay below ground. When you remove your stove you can bury the embers and ashes and replace the sod divot to leave no trace of your fire.
This really all depends on your skills and what you’ve brought with you in terms of food and gear. We’ve been able to cook some delicious meals on our StealthFyre stove so far. We really like to grill meats and veggies. But we’ve also been able to prepare breakfast and even do an authentic stir fry.
StealthFyre can be large enough to support a variety of gear. You can grill, fry, bake, and even smoke meat if you have the skills and resources to do so. And even if you’re only interested in boiling water to rehydrate a dinner after a long hike, StealthFyre can do that, too.
StealthFyre panels exposed to fire will become covered in soot even after one use if you are burning biofuels such as wood, twigs, and leaves. A quick and effective method for cleaning your stove is to use a common acid-based cleaner. This comes in the form of products like CLR or an automotive wheel brightener. Simply use the cleaner as directed and soak the panels for five to ten minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
A useful preemptive method of keeping your panels clean can be achieved by rubbing a very thin layer of liquid dish soap onto the surfaces of your panels with a dry cloth and allowing them to fully dry. This dry layer of soap will not burn away during use. But it will quickly rinse away in water, taking the soot with it. This will keep you from cleaning your stove as often.
Your panels will indeed become slightly warped after a few uses. This is normal and to be expected. However, you may find that your tabs do not align as easily as they did when new. You can most often lightly bend the panels to re-align the tabs so that they will connect once again. This side-effect of heating the steel can be regarded as a benefit. You’ll find the warped panels often lock much tighter than they once did, making your assembly more sturdy.
The elbow tabs on your panels may become slightly bent out of shape from time to time. This can make it difficult to connect your panels together. But you can easily bring them back to spec with a pair of pliers like those found on many multi-tools. Even if you accidentally step on a panel, it may still be possible to bend your panels back into shape.
Perhaps you accidentally stepped on a panel and seriously damaged one or more tabs. You can reshape them with a combination of methods. Corners bent from dropping may be able to be pounded flat again. You can do this with a hammer or a rock and a hard, flat surface. If they are bent over and flattened into the surface, prying them away with a flat screw driver or similar tool might be needed before you can grab it with a pliers and return it to it’s original position.
The surface of the panel may become distorted around the tab during this process. You can use a hammer or rock to gently tap it flat again, but be very careful not to smash the neighboring elbow tab you just repaired! You can do this by using a small vise to press the surface flat.
You may find that a certain configuration you wish to build is difficult with the tabs bent as they are. For instance, the elbow tabs can be somewhat cumbersome when assembling them as a roof or a floor and you would prefer them to lay flat, or you need to have more panels with flattened dovetail tabs. In these instances you may wish to use your multi-tool to lay the tabs flat for a better fit.
This will indeed produce satisfactory results. But please be aware of these two things beforehand. Repeatedly bending stainless steel at sharp angles creates focused heat that hardens the steel. This makes it brittle and susceptible to breakage. Your StealthFyre warranty ONLY covers manufacturer defects such as missing or deformed slots and tabs.
We recognize the usefulness of having some or many panels without bent tabs. But we strongly advise that if you do it properly. Bend them flat with a pliers and then pound the remaining bend as flat as you can with a hammer or rock. Remember, DO NOT attempt to re-bend them again.
Make sure that this is a decision you will be happy with BEFORE you make the attempt, and understand that these panels may become difficult or impossible to use in other configurations. These will become proprietary panels for your intended configuration. If you follow this advice your StealthFyre panels will continue to give you many years of dependable use and satisfaction.
Absolutely. We’ll replace all UNUSED kits with manufacturer defects such as missing or deformed slots or tabs. We WILL NOT warranty any used kit.
To find out if your kit is eligible for replacement, contact us with detailed information about the defect, along with close-up pictures of the problem areas. If we can determine that the panels are defective, we will provide a return address. Send the kit back and allow 4-6 weeks for the replacement kit to arrive in the mail.
Not exactly. We can’t offer free replacements if you’ve damaged them during use. But we do offer a small discount through our Damaged Panel Replacement Program.
Please understand, this is an exchange program only. You need damaged panels to exchange for replacements.
You can make charcoal.
We all know charcoal is an extremely useful material. You can make it easily with your StealthFyre stove. First, deploy it in a trench as a Dakota Fire Hole and build a strong fire. Get yourself a good bed of glowing coals. Then fill the pit as full as you can with chunks of wood.
Once the flames have caught the fuel, seal up both pits. Then let the wood smolder overnight. When you uncover your stove in the morning you should find several good size pieces of charcoal. These can then be used for grilling meat, heating your shelter, stoking a furnace, or making gunpowder and medicine.
You can make mud and clay bricks.
Bricks are easy to make with the StealthFyre Modular Stove System. The panels can be assembled to create molds of several different square and rectangular sizes. These shapes are ideal for making mud bricks. Bricks can be made using river bed clay, or a mixture of mud and dried grass, sometimes called adobe or cob. Bricks are useful in several areas of primitive construction such as building shelter walls, ovens, and cisterns.
Simply pack your clay or mud and grass mix into the mold, filling it to the second set of horizontal slots. Then lift the mold off of your brick and allow it to dry in the sun. Clay bricks can be baked in a fire to increase their durability, but mud bricks will crumble and fall apart.
You can make a container.
By assembling the wall panels to create a square or rectangle and then adding panels to create a floor, you can turn your panels into a bucket for moving dirt and debris. By lining it with a garbage bag or other suitable liner you can carry more than a gallon of water, or use it as a washbasin.
Four wall panels assembled in the fashion of a tunnel can be lined with a small bag and used as a water pitcher or large drinking container. If you have enough panels you can even assemble a vertical shelving system to organize gear at camp.
Great news! The very first order of the revolutionary new StealthFyre survival stoves has been placed! We are very excited, but at the same time we have a ton of work that still needs to be done before we can unleash the full potential of StealthFyre.
Although the actual process of cutting our panels will be quick, much still remains to be done by hand, including the precision bending of our unique tab and lock system. What this means is that there will still be a waiting period before we can officially announce all of our unique stoves for sale.
But when they do, our very first run will include a 30 count run Special Edition of our StealthFyre Origin Deluxe kit, which will have enough panels to build our Dakota style fire pit and our Origin kit, and they will also be coming with a very limited run of our Origin Deluxe Grill and Damper Accessory kit! This kit will include enough panels to make a grill and damper for both our small and our larges stoves!
These accessories won’t be available again until a large order can be financed. Please bear in mind that StealthFyre is a grass-roots effort. We are bringing this amazing product to you with nothing but our own blood, sweat, and toil. Only with your help can we bring the StealthFyre Revolution to the world.
